Assisting with the design, implementation, and expansion of new or existing initiatives that support older adults and/or caregivers.
The Dancing Sky Area Agency on Aging Development Team assists in the development, expansion, and ongoing support of home and community-based services that will provide older adults, and their caregivers, more opportunities to remain healthy, safe, and independent in the home and community of their choosing.
The Development Team advances this work by:

Providing technical assistance to providers of services for older adults and their caregivers. Including:

Assistance in finding funding sources

Sharing networking opportunities

Exploring partnerships and collaborations

Finding innovative solutions to fill service gaps

Training and education

Offering educational presentations and webinars, as well as participating in area health fairs and community events, to advance learning on aging-related topics.

Supporting Age Friendly and Dementia Friendly Initiatives across our 21-county service area.

Expanding and implementing Evidence-Based Programs to advance health and wellness, including A Matter of Balance, SAIL, PEARLS and more.

Allocating and administering federal Older Americans Act Title III funding to local service provides through a competitive grant process to support Supportive Services, Nutrition Services, Evidence-Based Health Promotion Programs, and Caregiver Supportive Services.

Helping you achieve your life goals.
These interactive classes offer proven ways to improve health and prevent disease among older adults. They also inspire people to engage with others to improve their health and wellness, build confidence and increase your ability to live a full and healthy life!
The Dancing Sky Area Agency on Aging encourages and assists community-based organizations serving older adults in the development and implementation of these programs.

Presentations
Life-long Learning Opportunities
Dancing Sky staff and volunteers are able to bring these presentations to your organization. Presentations fit into a 30-60 minute timeframe.
The File
The File focuses on the importance of having “one place” to store your important information for family and friends, if and when needed. The five topics covered include: Important People, Finances, Insurance information, Documents, and Funeral Arrangements. Each person in attendance will get one “FILE”.
Emergency
Preparedness
for Seniors
Presented in conjunction with local Emergency Managers, this presentation gives older adults the knowledge they need to help them in an emergency, such as a natural disaster (tornado, flood, fire). The topics include having a “Go- Bag”, who to contact in an emergency and how the systems work together during a natural disaster/emergency.
Dementia
Friends
Covers the five key messages everyone should know about dementia through activities and discussion; how it affects people; and how we each can make a difference in the lives of people living with the disease.
Living Well
in your Home
Many older adults want to remain in their home for as long as possible. This presentation offers a broad range of solutions for living at home successfully.
Scams Targeting
Older Adults
Discover the various ways scammers attempt to defraud older adults of their money.
“Grandpa & Lucy”
“Grandpa and Lucy” is a story about a young girl and her grandfather who has Alzheimer’s. “Grandpa and Lucy” can be incorporated into the Dementia Friends session.
This presentation can be given to school aged students and beyond.
Medication
Management
Working with a pharmacist, individuals sign up for a one-on-one consultation to discuss their medications, and drug interactions.
This is not a presentation, it is an opportunity for individuals to learn about their medications.
Falls
Prevention
Discusses the risks of falling for older adults and gives some key safety tips for preventing falls. Topics include – Medications and falls, changes to your home, safety equipment, shoes, as well as hearing and vision issues that can lead to falls.
Virtual Dementia Tour: A Window into Their World
This is a hands-on interactive session where each participant gets a glimpse into what living with dementia might be like. There is an individual component, and a group debrief at the end. This can be done for professionals or as a community initiative. This is a product of Second Wind Dreams.
Session length may vary depending on the number of participants.
